There has been a massive shift in the way society expects men to present and define themselves.  It is a time of gender reinvention and fragmentation of classic masculinity.  Though difficult, men have the opportunity to create and embody previously unheard-of definitions of maleness. For this film, Kai revisits his earlier stills project, done in the early 2000s for Viewpoint – where once we saw men trapped and betrayed by their self-conceptions, this update now sheds a more hopeful light by focusing on unexpected possibilities rather than wrong turns.
